The Old House...How it All Started

Debbie had always wanted and old house. I had always resisted the urge to purchase an older house, knowing that such things as plumbing, wiring, heating, and cooling were opportunities to sink wads of money. But Debbie wanted it...and truthfully, so did I, since I had always fancied myself a somewhat of a handyman/carpenter/craftsman. It might be fun, I thought. So the search began. We started looking for houses in the Highland-Sayles-Amarillo and Elmwood areas of Abilene.

This Web Log (blog) chronicles our progress in purchasing and transforming an old and somewhat neglected house into a quaint and comfortable home. Many of our friends and relatives seem interested (or dismayed) that we have taken on such a project. As we make progress, I will post our experiences in home remodeling and restoration here.

I warn you ahead of time...I have my definite opinions of how things ought to be done and I won't hesitate to voice those opinions here. Since this blog will be shared with my family and friends, I certainly don't intend to offend anyone with my opinions...whether you agree or not!
